I ran the Nike Human Race today with Natalie, Andrea and Alvin today.

Here's what you get when Comex 2008 (Last Day) and Nike Human Race are both situated near City Hall MRT station...

The MRT public announcement system was like going...
"The station is crowded. Please leave the station if you are not taking the train."
Repeated like 10 times yet the crowd stayed put. I was one of those people who didn't budge. lol.

Here's a pic at the start line. When the race started, we were so far behind that we took like 10 minutes to reach the actual start line. lol.

We finished the 10K in like 2 hours. hahaha. Reason being we jogged the first 2K and then walked the rest. And the route wasn't really built for 10,000 people. Very squeezy in the beginning and we were crossing paths with each other.

So at the end of the race we were given this finisher's bracelet which I haven't figured out how to wear yet. Hmmm...

Wake me up when September starts...

Mom was packing some stuff when she chanced upon my primary school creative writing essays. I attended a creative writing class when I was 9 and continued having lessons till I was about 11. So I looked through my essays and was laughing with every word that I read. I can't believe just how bad I was. I'm definitely better at writing now... lol. Here are some that I uploaded, have a good laugh...

Essay #1

The lifeguard wasn't doing his job.

Essay #2

He should have tried eBay.

Essay #3

The tiger should have ripped Ahmad's hand apart.

Essay #4

This was my favourite.
At that time, I thought you could sue people without a lawyer and just by making a phone call.
lol @ vitamins
lol @ teacher's comment "over a toy?"

I is a good writer.

See what I mean?

I haven't blogged for a while. It's time I posted something. Here's a pretty long post to make up for it.

School
Lots of notes to print. Here's a maths question (lol):

Kai has 6 modules. Each module requires him to print 20 pages on average per week. How much money would Kai have spent in 6 months' time if each page costs 5 cents to print?

no. of pages to print per week
= no. of modules x no. of pages to print per module per week
= 6 x 20
= 120

no. of weeks in 6 months
= no. of weeks in a month x 6
= 4 x 6
= 24

total no. of pages to print in 6 months
= no. of pages to print per week x no. of weeks in 6 months
= 120 x 24
= 2880

amt. of money Kai would have spent in 6 months' time on printing notes
= 2880 pages x $0.05
= $144

That's 24 bucks a month on average. Even my mobile phone subcription doesn't cost that much... lol

More school...
Besides lectures and my first 2 tutorial lessons this week, it was also Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Week in my school. All the school sports groups and clubs set up booths to promote their CCA. After watching So You Think You Can Dance, I became really interested in dancing. It was not until the CCA fair when I decided to join a free hip-hop class conducted by the school's Modern Jazz (MJ) dance crew. I was joined by 2 friends and we ended up 'dancing' to the Pussycat Dolls' "When I Grow Up". And boy, were the dance steps quick. I was out of breath (almost) by the end of it all. But I had to say it was really quite fun, though I don't think I'm cut out to be a dancer. lol. Will be trying ballroom dancing next week =D

Olympics
Wow. I was really excited for Tao Li when she made it to the 100m Butterfly Finals in the Beijing Olympics. Even though she didn't win a medal, I was still amazed that she could still get 5th in the final. It's indeed an amazing achievement for someone who isn't as big and tall as the other girls. Now no one can say she's not a world-class swimmer.

And after 48 years of not seeing any Singaporean athletes on the Olympics awards podium, Singapore will finally see Singapore's Women's Table Tennis Team (comprising Li Jia Wei, Wang Yue Gu and Feng Tian Wei) receiving a medal. Feng Tian Wei played awesome.

Health
For the past few days I've been feeling short of breath. I can't breathe entirely and I'm nearly always feeling tired and lethargic. I also get mood swings and easily agitated. (For those who know me in real life, stay away from me, lol)

So I went to a chinese physician recommended by my mom's friend and the physician told me, just by looking at my face, that I lack energy and vitality. He also said that I sleep late and that my spleen is not strong, and that I have anxiety attack. I need to work on my diet and lifestyle to bring my health back up.

I've always had the bad habit of eating too quickly and not chewing my food thoroughly. Rather than eating, I was swallowing most of the time. This might have been due to the fact that I was often rushed in my army days so we didn't exactly have the luxury of a long break for meals. I'd learned from watching Jewel In The Palace (Dae Jung Geum) that chewing at least 20 times on your food will ensure that you'll have a healthy spleen. I better do that now.

Chew your food!

Good Eating Habits
- Chew on your food thoroughly so your stomach doesn't have to work so hard breaking down the food.
- Eat until you're 80% full. You don't have to be exact, just don't eat till the buttons on your shirt pop off.
- If your schedule allows you, split your meals into 5 to 6 smaller meals. This increases your metabolism.
- Don't take a shower right after a meal. This is due to some temperature changes that may affect your digestive system.
- Don't eat after 7pm. For those who have the habit of eating late-night supper, control yourselves.
- Don't eat 3 hours before you sleep.
- Don't drink water right after you have your meal. Give about 15 minutes.
- Don't drink too much water right before you go to bed.

fiiilllthy little hobbitssess...

I would like to post a birthday shoutout to my wonderful NS buddy Alvin N. whose birthday fell on 08.08.08 and my spms-foc friend Jia Ying whose birthday falls on Singapore's National Day, 09.08.08.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Alvin and Jia Ying!!

I watched a section of the repeat of last night's Beijing Olympics 2008 Opening Ceremony just after I woke up this morning and for some unknown reason, 3 teardrops trickled down my eyes. It happened when I saw one of China's ex-gymnasts, Li Ning, hanging from a harness and running across the walls of the stadium before lighting up the huge Olympic cauldron. I have no idea why I was feeling so emo this morning. But somehow watching the magnificent display that China has put up really moved me. I could just imagine what it must have felt like to be one of the spectators at the Bird's Nest Stadium.

China has really outdone herself this time.

I told my cousin Roofiangz (her nick) about this on msn. After hearing what I had to say she told me that my 76-year-old grandma was "SO CUTE". By the way, Kawaii (pronounced ka-wa-ee) means "cute" in Japanese.

Just to clear things up, the lil ol' lady on the right is NOT my granny. She's just an elderly woman who needs dental care... badly.

So I was cleaning up my desk and holding a large pink plastic bag with a laptop bag inside when my grandmother asked...

Granny: 那是什么?*points to large pink plastic bag* (translation: What is that?)
Me: 哦... 书包咯... (translation: Oh... bag lor.)
Granny: 衣服买了没有?(translation: Have you bought your clothes?)
Me: Huh? 什么衣服?(translation: Huh? What clothes?)
Granny: 上学的衣服啦!(translation: Clothes for school lah!)
Me: (stunned)
Granny: 你要准备好上学的东西 lei... (translation: You must get your stuff ready for school lei...)
Me: Aiyo Granny!!! 我是上大学不是小学 la!!! 大学不用校服的... (translation: Aiyo Granny!!! I'm going to uni not primary school la!!! They don't have uniforms for uni...)
Granny: 哦... 不用校服的啊?(translation: Oh... don't need uniforms ar?)
Me: ... ...
*Mom laughs in background*

So is my granny Kawaii? It's doopz poll time!!

So I chose a pink colour template for the poll for the kawaii-ness...

Real men choose pink.

^_^

OMG.

Went out with my dad to Stinktel (not a typo) Hello! Shop @ West Mall to purchase one of the most droolicious phones out there in the market now.

I have a Nokia E51 myself so I know how sleek these Nokia E series phones can be. The phone looks great inside out. With a sleek metallic finish and Symbian OS S60 installed with jam-packed features, you really can't keep your hands off this slider. Except the only thing that might bother you is the fact that this is a really good fingerprint magnet.

Click here to see the specs for this phone.

Drool Factor: 10/10

After much deliberation and countless (well... nearly) visits to resale flats we have finally decided on a home in Choa Chu Kang (CCK).

Yes, no more House, B.P.

We decided to change our area of search to CCK since it's slightly more accessible than Bukit Panjang (B.P.) and the flats in CCK are relatively cheaper than B.P. The place looks great and it's in an almost move-in condition. Just a little renovation needs to be done. We should be moving in December.

Anyway, I'm just glad that I'm finally gonna have my own room.

Went to Sim Lim Square to hunt for a notebook for school use. The first shop that I visited was PCdreams, where the shop manager recommended me the HP Business NC4400 at the price of SGD 1599 (inc. GST). Here are the specs:

HP Business NC4400
Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0 GHz
2 GB RAM / 80 GB HDD
External DVDRW Super Multi
12.1" / Card Reader
Windows XP Professional
3 Years Inernational Warranty

It was a really solid notebook. It didn't appear flimsy and was made from magnesium alloy almost all around. Yet, it was at the feather-light weight of 1.7kg with the 6-cell battery plugged in.

I was quite impressed with how the sales manager sold the product. He was sincere and knew his stuff well. So after walking round the entire block, I went back to PCdreams again to take a look at the laptop and the sales manager told me more about it. I then found out that both the sales representatives at the shop were NTU graduates, and upon hearing that I was their junior, they gave me a $100 reduction off the set.

It was a nice shopping experience, they gave me no pressure at all in buying the laptop and they even suggested that I consider buying from school instead. But I didn't want to spend 2.2K on a Fujitsu laptop so I settled with the HP one for SGD 1499.

Here are some pics...

I also bought a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 8 GB Thumbdrive for SGD 50 at Best Bargain =)

Thanks to those who voted in the poll =)
