I left this blog to die.
I'm wondering why the counter's still receiving hits.
But, like Ned from Pushing Daisies, I'm gonna bring this blog back to life.
Just a side note: Pushing Daisies will be cancelled soon =(
So... my exams are finally over (for this semester)!!! But I'm not expecting any good results. Everything seems so uncertain. The difficulty of the exam papers were all stepped up a notch from the previous years. But I only have myself to blame if I don't get the results I want.
But all these worrying about exams and stuff seem so unimportant and redundant when life's at stake. I'm talking about the Singaporean lawyer, Lo Hwei Yan, who became the first from our country to die in a terror attack, more specifically the recent terror bombings in Mumbai, India. I can hardly imagine what it must have been like for her or her family during those precious seconds when she was allowed to communicate with her family. It must have been devastating to be given hope of survival then have it swiped like a mat from under your feet. My dad is a frequent traveller too and my sis is on a long-term job posting in a distant land. I only hope that they'll be safe wherever they go and return home unscathed.
Amidst all the actual turmoil that's taking place around the world, there are actually people who kill each other for toys, or trample over Wal-Mart employees while picking out christmas gifts. It's a sad world out there. Whatever happened to the spirit of giving?
It's about a month till I get to have my own room. I can't wait =D I've placed an order for my bed, desk and wardrobe and they're gonna look great in my room. I'll post a few pics of my room when it's ready ;)
It's clobbering time!

There's a chinese proverb that goes, "打是疼,骂是爱" [Literally: Beating is (a sign of) affection, scolding is (a sign of) love.] A saying often used by parents. Of course, these parents don't beat their children as and when they like, only when their children require some discipline. After all, spare the rod and you spoil the child.
Naturally, parents who cane their children feel even more hurt from within with every stroke that they inflict on their child. But when caning your child turns into a form of channeling your anger and stress and even becoming some sort of enjoyment, it's time to seek some counseling.
Of course, children are not the only victims of domestic violence. The elderly too, can be victims of their children. Everyone - even men - can be victims of family abuse. More and more husbands are seeking protection orders against their abusive wives.
Whatever the case, if you're a victim of domestic violence, tell someone about it. Don't suffer in silence, and don't have the notion that the abuse you're receiving is "for your own good".
I'm just thankful that I grew up in a loving family, one that didn't equate love with violence.
Wait a minute... how did I end up writing a GP essay?

IT'S HERE!!!
The 2-hour season premiere was FANTASTIC! Oh my god I can't wait to spoil it for any unsuspecting Heroes fan who's reading this post right now... =O
Nah... not gonna do it. Watch it yourself =P
Lots of surprises and twists and turns and wonderful new powers. It's almost waaaayyy too much to handle. But like always, at the end of the each episode, I was thirsty for more.
By the way, volume 3 will last 12 episodes.
Volume 4 will be titled "Fugitives" and comprises 13 episodes. Oooh so exciting.
TV fanatic on the loose.

Or to be more specific, Melamine found in the milk powder.
Melamine, when ingested, may lead to reproductive damage, bladder or kidney stones, which can lead to bladder cancer. Some of its uses include making pesticides, fertilisers, plastics, and glue.
The worst thing was, the producers of the milk powder knew that their milk powder was contaminated, and owned up only after 1 death and about 60 babies in the northwestern state of Gansu (China) alone developed kidney stones and had urinating problems. More than 400 babies across the country have been made ill.
The people responsible should suffer a fate worse than death.

Some things will never change... So much for the Beijing Olympics.

I haven't blogged for a while. It's time I posted something. Here's a pretty long post to make up for it.
School
Lots of notes to print. Here's a maths question (lol):
Kai has 6 modules. Each module requires him to print 20 pages on average per week. How much money would Kai have spent in 6 months' time if each page costs 5 cents to print?
no. of pages to print per week
= no. of modules x no. of pages to print per module per week
= 6 x 20
= 120
no. of weeks in 6 months
= no. of weeks in a month x 6
= 4 x 6
= 24
total no. of pages to print in 6 months
= no. of pages to print per week x no. of weeks in 6 months
= 120 x 24
= 2880
amt. of money Kai would have spent in 6 months' time on printing notes
= 2880 pages x $0.05
= $144
That's 24 bucks a month on average. Even my mobile phone subcription doesn't cost that much... lol
More school...
Besides lectures and my first 2 tutorial lessons this week, it was also Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Week in my school. All the school sports groups and clubs set up booths to promote their CCA. After watching So You Think You Can Dance, I became really interested in dancing. It was not until the CCA fair when I decided to join a free hip-hop class conducted by the school's Modern Jazz (MJ) dance crew. I was joined by 2 friends and we ended up 'dancing' to the Pussycat Dolls' "When I Grow Up". And boy, were the dance steps quick. I was out of breath (almost) by the end of it all. But I had to say it was really quite fun, though I don't think I'm cut out to be a dancer. lol. Will be trying ballroom dancing next week =D
Olympics
Wow. I was really excited for Tao Li when she made it to the 100m Butterfly Finals in the Beijing Olympics. Even though she didn't win a medal, I was still amazed that she could still get 5th in the final. It's indeed an amazing achievement for someone who isn't as big and tall as the other girls. Now no one can say she's not a world-class swimmer.
And after 48 years of not seeing any Singaporean athletes on the Olympics awards podium, Singapore will finally see Singapore's Women's Table Tennis Team (comprising Li Jia Wei, Wang Yue Gu and Feng Tian Wei) receiving a medal. Feng Tian Wei played awesome.
Health
For the past few days I've been feeling short of breath. I can't breathe entirely and I'm nearly always feeling tired and lethargic. I also get mood swings and easily agitated. (For those who know me in real life, stay away from me, lol)
So I went to a chinese physician recommended by my mom's friend and the physician told me, just by looking at my face, that I lack energy and vitality. He also said that I sleep late and that my spleen is not strong, and that I have anxiety attack. I need to work on my diet and lifestyle to bring my health back up.
I've always had the bad habit of eating too quickly and not chewing my food thoroughly. Rather than eating, I was swallowing most of the time. This might have been due to the fact that I was often rushed in my army days so we didn't exactly have the luxury of a long break for meals. I'd learned from watching Jewel In The Palace (Dae Jung Geum) that chewing at least 20 times on your food will ensure that you'll have a healthy spleen. I better do that now.
Good Eating Habits
- Chew on your food thoroughly so your stomach doesn't have to work so hard breaking down the food.
- Eat until you're 80% full. You don't have to be exact, just don't eat till the buttons on your shirt pop off.
- If your schedule allows you, split your meals into 5 to 6 smaller meals. This increases your metabolism.
- Don't take a shower right after a meal. This is due to some temperature changes that may affect your digestive system.
- Don't eat after 7pm. For those who have the habit of eating late-night supper, control yourselves.
- Don't eat 3 hours before you sleep.
- Don't drink water right after you have your meal. Give about 15 minutes.
- Don't drink too much water right before you go to bed.

What the hell is going on with Japan these days? What's up with all the stabbing of random strangers and chopping up your own families? Are Japanese too stressed out? Are they living too long? Are they watching too many shows which depict violence and gore (eg. some Anime)? Is it the food they eat? Or is it their culture and lifestyle?
I'm not saying that this applies to only the Japanese. I know for a fact that these kind of crimes are getting more and more common around the world. But it's a scary thought that these things can occur so often nowadays.
KAMIKAZE!
My parents just signed the contract to sell our house. So we'll be relocating within 5 months!!
Sheesh. The buyers were quick.
Oh... crap.
That means I'm going to be further away from my school then I was before. Mom wants to move to Bukit Panjang. No more 15 minutes away from school =( No more Jurong Point. No more Jurong West Sports and Recreation Centre.
On a more positive note, I'm going to have my very own room! For the first time in my life!! Hope we'll find a house with a study room...
Sis is gonna be very shocked when she reads this post.
